Duke Bar
631 Duke Street, Glasgow, G31 1QA
17th December 2014
Talk in local online forum is that this bar may be closing soon. A good old fashioned Glasgow Pub, good glass in doors and windows, floor the common type until recently but now so often disappearing under laminate wood flooring.Nice big banquette seats. Across the road are the Crown Creighton and Alexandra Bar , slightly further east are the Bristol Bar and the original Louden Tavern.

Spotlight Caledonia: Caledonia Road Free Church
United Presbyterian Church

Glimpsed from passing cars and buses by generations of Glaswegians Alexander "Greek" Thomsons UP church in the Gorbals has always been an intriguing building. Gutted by fire in 1965 and correctly on the building at risk register , it has sat isolated and apparently abandoned on its triangular island.
Recently a group of architectural students ( RE:Dwell ) and involvement from New Gorbals Housing Association and Lateral North have allowed the gates to be opened for events and let people in to see what is left.
The work is expanding to the spaces under the railway arches with shows and ideas requested for uses of the church and those areas.
Also got to speak to the person who has been painting the strange tag around the area for years. You will know the tag.
