Tis the season for makeovers and facelifts in the Glasgow pub scene. The Halt is now West On the Corner, Denholms is currently shut for what is called a "much needed makeover". ( I hope the frieze remains ) . Other bars, like The Quarter Gill, have closed. Bars are planned to be changed into hostels ( McNeills ) So it is with some worry that you read of another "facelift"

This bar has one of the great subtle bar features ( like Vale/Avant Garde ) a sloped bar front. Your feet have more room while the top is still close to you.

Also;

I think this style of bar is an efficient way to give leg space while still looking good. Vale;Avant Garde/Lawries have this angled shape as well.

There is also a lounge bar through another front door and a function area just to the right. The toilets are down a rather grand staircase much like the Variety Bar.
Food: very nice burger and possibly the best chips i have had. Crispy on the outside fluffy and hot on the inside
